The Comeback: A Library Celebration of Faculty Achievement

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

As academic libraries provide more materials in electronic format, faculty have fewer reasons to enter the physical library space or connect with library employees. Library-sponsored events provide an opportunity to introduce faculty to current library services and resources. The J. Willard Marriott Library implemented a celebration of faculty achievements in research, scholarship, and creative works with the following objectives:
At the end of the evening, attendees will have:
• Acknowledged the variety of faculty achievement.
• Increased awareness of the research and creative efforts of faculty colleagues.
• Discovered interdisciplinary connections.
Planning for such an event requires the establishment of criteria to honor exemplary faculty achievements, which will inevitably mean that others will not be honored, some of whom may feel they deserved to be honored. A review of planning, criteria, implementation, and evaluation of the result will be presented with recommendations for
improvements and adjustments for a variety of library settings.
