Preventing Death by PowerPoint and Other Calamitous Design Failures

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Death by PowerPoint is a well-documented phenomenon. Equally concerning are the countless brain injuries caused by poorly designed handouts, fliers, and even charts and tables. Too many of us are unaware of the damage we're inflicting, but our colleagues and patrons deserve better. In addition to being a business librarian, Andy Spackman teaches a course on oral and written communication to upperclassmen at BYU's Marriott School of Management. This workshop draws from that curriculum, incorporating a variety of activities and centering on lively discussion. Participants will learn simple design principles and techniques that will improve their ability to communicate by creating effective graphics, handouts, and presentation slides.
